Apart from the obvious, such as get it on time, I would suggest 15 minutes earlier. Things can happen right, so is better to plan to get there earlier than on time.
Other things to consider prior the interview are, get the correct address and make a note of it, as well as the name of the person who will take you in for the interview. Don’t be surprised if there’s more than one person in the room, sometimes a second person joins in to support the interviewer and ask questions from a different perspective.
Those questions below are more around subjects that are not technical and can be applied in a vast majority type of job roles, not necessary to Software Testing jobs only.
I would dear to say those are maybe more important to reply with confidence than the technical part as this demonstrate who you are, and technical are skills. Skills can be acquired, personality is harder to change.
Be short and direct answering them, don’t repeat yourself. Make it interesting, not boring.
The sorts of questions to prepare for are:

- Why do you want to work here?
- Describe yourself
- What is the hardest thing you’ve had to do during your career?

What employer may also be looking for, are the following:
This will demonstrate your ability to solve a problem, within your domain knowledge and how you interact with people. Talk about an example that would cover, in summary all, or partially, those topics.
- Extensive technical knowledge in the subject area
- Down to earth
- Bright, sociable and positive
- Passion for IT and quick to learn
- Problem solvers
- Able to prioritise work/multi-tasking
- Good communicators – confident but NOT arrogant!
It would also be good for you to have a pen and pad in order to take notes.
Other general interview tips.
- Be enthusiastic and show a willingness to learn.
- Be direct. Don’t waffle, get to the point. If they ask about your career, for example, ask which part of your career they’d like you to talk about.
- Think of 4 things YOU can offer the company (e.g. technical skills, soft skills, general relevant skills, etc). Prepare these beforehand.
- Think of 4 things THEY can offer you from what you have heard and seen on the website, etc. e.g.: Varied role, learning opportunity, growing organisation, etc. This shows going the extra mile having done some additional research.
Tell the interviewer that you’re interested in the role (if you are!). If you don’t tell them, they won’t know.
Prepare questions to ask them, e.g.:
Personal: How long have you worked here and what do you like about it? This will help to build up a rapport.
Business: Ask about the business plans for the next 12 months, etc.
